Nuclear Magnetic Resonance: Dr Bill Bachovchin directs the NMR center. X-Ray
Crystallography: Dr. Bohm oversees the X-ray diffraction
system. The setup includes a 2Kx2K 165 mm front face CCD camera
(Oxford Diffraction) and is equipped with a cryo-cooling unit.
Computers running various crystallographic software packages are
located in the Bohm laboratory. Isothermal Titration
Calorimetry: A microcal ITC instrument is located in Dr.
Baleja's laboratory. Mass Spectrometers:
David Sanford oversees the Thermo Finnigan LCQ DUO ESI trap and Agilent
1100 series LCD/MSD trap mass spec instruments. Fluorescence
Spectrophotometer: Dr. Baleja oversees the Fluorolog
Fluorescence Spectrophotometer. Circular Dichroism Spectrophotometer: Dr. Baleja oversees a JASCO 810 circular dichroism spectropolarimeter which is located Room MV605B. Fermenter: A
BioFlow 2000 fermentor is available for large scale bacterial
growth. You must contact Dr. Bohm for more information before
using this instrument. Shakers are
scattered throughout the department in various labs. Centrifuges &
Rotors: A number of centrifuges including large and small
ultracentrifuges, and lower speed instruments are scattered throughout
the department. Dr. Schnitzler oversees many of these instruments. Chromatography:
Most labs maintain their own HPLC and/or FPLC-type systems. There
is also a shared pharmacia FPLC system in one of the cold rooms. |
