  • American Counsel on Headache Education
    Includes topical information on headaches and headache pain management. Sections include: women and headaches; kids and headaches; prevention; library & news; discussion groups; and physician directory.
  • Arthritis Foundation
    Clearinghouse for arthritis patients and healthcare professionals. Extensive resources on arthritis and arthritis treatments featured; links to ongoing arthritis research and current news are also included.
  • National Headache Foundation
    Features separate sections for patients and healthcare professionals. Both sections contain links to clinical trials, membership information, and headache-related information on the Web.
  • Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Association (RSDA)
    Includes general information about Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), RSD Clinical Practice Guidelines, current news on RSD, and RSDA-produced publications.

Pain Treatment

  • American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM)
    Organization for physicians practicing the specialty of pain medicine. Contains links to membership information, continuing education courses, AAPM publications and a pain medicine FAQ.
  • American Chronic Pain Association
    Patient/caregiver support and advocacy organization. Features an FAQ and a basic introduction on chronic pain management as well as links to chronic pain resources (including health conditions, medications, and helpful readings).
  • American Pain Society (APS)
    Multidisciplinary organization of basic and clinical scientists, practicing clinicians, policy analysts, and others. Links to the APS publications, organizational activites, and advocacy/policy work are featured.
  • Partners Against Pain
    Purdue Pharmaceuticals
    Contains links to news reports, guides to pain management and current research, including alternative therapies. Separate sections for patients/caregivers, professionals and institutions are provided.
  • StopPain.org
    Beth Israel Medical Center (NY)
    Provides overviews of pain and palliative medicine as well as resources for both professionals and caregivers. Links to educational programs, clinical trials and a calendar of events are provided in the "Resource Center, Education, Research" section.

Palliative Care

  • American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM)
    Organization of physicians and other medical professionals specializing in palliative medicine. Links to the organization's activities, publications and products is included as a directory of palliative medicine fellowships and web resources.
  • American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABHPM)
    Responsible for establishing the requirements for certification and recertification in hospice and palliative medicine. ABHPM creates and administers the certifying examination. Links to examination schedules/requirements, hospice journals and website, and a ABHPM directory of fellowships are provided.
  • Center to Advance Palliative Care
    Mount Sinai School of Medicine/ Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
    Resource for hospitals and health systems interested in developing palliative care programs. Major areas of focus include special studies, education, technical assistance, networking and information resources.
  • End of Life/Palliative Education Resource Center (EPERC)
    Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/ Medical College of Wisconsin
    Repository for educational materials and information about end of life (EOL) issues. Links to EOL issue bibliographies, training programs, meetings, funding and web resources is provided.
  • International Association of Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC)
    Provides links to an international directory of palliative care associations, selected articles regarding ethical issues, palliative care-related journals/publications, and a palliative care manual produced by IAHPC.
  • National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO)
    Contains links to research and statistical materials, hospice/palliative care resources on the Web, and NHPCO produced guides to grief and bereavement.
