Degree Pathways and Combined Degrees

Students at Tufts may pursue an MPH as a single degree, or may seek to earn the MPH while pursuing degrees in nutrition, veterinary medicine, law, or even a bachelors.

Dual degrees are integral to the Mission of the MPH program, as the faculty seeks to create, "cadres of critical thinkers who can carry out public health practice and scholarship in a variety of settings and across professional lines." Although dual or combined degrees can be rigorous, the Tufts MPH degree allows for maximum synergy between disciplines and blends, when possible, requirements of both degrees.

Because the educational experience in such programs equals more than the sum of its parts, Tufts students graduate with more than just two degrees. Other students also benefit from the varied perspectives their classmates enrolled in the different tracks bring to class discussions and presentations.

Students must apply separately to the MS-Nutrition and MPH programs for the MS/MPH track; students are admitted to the dual-degree track after both applications have been accepted. All other combined- and dual-degree tracks require initial applications and acceptance through the non-MPH program.
