Certificate of Advanced Study in Pain Topics

...not everybody will have a heart attack or get cancer, but pain is a paradigm of the human condition...To help alleviate pain is the most wonderful thing you can do..." --Hallie Greenberg, MS '04, RN, C

Are you a healthcare professional interested in enrolling in select courses in the Master of Science in Pain Research, Education and Policy program? Recently, we have seen a growing interest in specific areas of study covered in our comprehensive Master's in Pain program. Given this rising demand, and the high quality of education provided by our distinguished faculty, in the Fall of 2005 we introduced a Certificate of Advanced Study in Pain Topics. The goal of the program is to provide targeted postgraduate education for healthcare professionals in the evolving field of pain.

Mirroring the Master's in Pain program curriculum, the Certificate program is built on the premise that pain is a biopsychosocial phenomenon. As such, its control is influenced by a variety of factors ranging from neuroanatomy to social and economic issues. Join our Master's program students in a dynamic and richly rewarding educational experience that fosters intellectual development.

Certificate program students choose a specialty and enroll in one of three tracks, Research, Education, or Policy, depending on the area in which they would like to focus. An additional track specifically for occupational therapists is also available. Students will complete a total of 20 credit hours of graduate-level courses to earn the Certificate of Advanced Study in Pain Topics.
