The Tufts Initiative for the Forecasting and Modeling of Infectious Diseases (InForMID) was established to conduct research and provide a venue for training in the fields of computational epidemiology, conservation medicine, biostatistics, and bioinformatics with the emphasis on public health applications. The mission of the Initiative is to improve the quality of bio-medical research and health care by developing innovative analytical and computational tools and systems to life-science researchers, public health professionals, and policy makers. The Initiative offers training opportunities and hands-on experience in research and practical applications for an audience with wide range of professional backgrounds.

Congratulations to Dr. Elena Naumova!

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Elena Naumova has been promoted to full professor at the Department of Public Health and Family Medicine, Tufts School of Medicine.

Steve Cohen appointed as assistant professor at Tufts

Steven Cohen, DrPH, MPH, has joined as a new faculty member at Tufts School of Medicine. He has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Public Health and Family Medicine. His primary research interests are in population dynamics and public health, specifically how the aging US population will impact health care and health services utilization and its impacts for the health care labor force. As the member of the InForMID, Dr. Cohen's research focuses on the large-scale spatial, temporal, and sociological factors to respiratory disease in the US elderly.

Dr. Naumova and Prof. MacNeill, the director and the founding member of InForMID, have recently published an article introducing a model that takes into consideration the lag time between exposure and infection. [...details]
