Thank You for Your Support of the
Seminar & Workship: Analysis of Time Series Data in Epidemiology

We have successfully carried out our first InForMID workshop! Here is a review of the event.

Seminar on June 4th, 2007

The first day's seminar consisted of four presentations aiming to expose the participants to the various types and controversies of time series analyses.

- Dr. Al Ozonoff kicked off the event by introducing different statistical modeling methods of time series including non-parametric method and harmonic regression. [Presentation, PDF]
- Dr. Mojdeh Mohtashemi delineated the population dynamics approach to modeling infectious disease with the application of the SEIR model. [Presentation, PDF]
- Dr. Nina Fefferman presented another population dynamic analysis incorporating a simulated human behavioral component. [Presentation, PDF]
- Finally, Dr. Elena Naumova demonstrated more of the challenges in time series analysis, as well as new innovations such as dynamic mapping and time-distributed effects. [Presentation, PDF]

An hour-long round table discussion followed the presentations.

Hands-on Workshop

The workshop on the second day provided a hands-on learning experience to the participants. We presented the theoretical and practical components of common time series analysis techniques with lectures and software demonstrations. Thus, participants learned about the underlying ideas and were then able to actually carry out the test as well as examine and discuss the output.

We hope this event provided everyone with more about time series analysis and new ideas for future reserach. Thank you for your support!
