International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment

"Sustainable Development Through Global Earth Observations"

The 32nd International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment was held in San Jose, Costa Rica from June 25 - 29, 2007. The overall theme of the conference was the use of Earth observation systems in monitoring, understanding, and managing the environment with particular emphasis on achieving sustainable development. At this conference, Dr. Elena Naumova was invited as a plenary speaker for “Human Health, Natural Disasters & Energy” session on the use of remote sensing data for public health research. She also presented the paper “The Use of Remote Sensing to Assess Global Trends in Seasonality of Cryptosporidiosis” (Authors: J.S. Jagai, J. Monchak, J.C. McEntee, D.A. Castronovo, and E.N. Naumova; [pdf]) at this conference. Dr. Naumova along with other prominent scientists from NASA, EPA and NOAA were also invited to meet the US Ambassador to Costa Rica, Mark Langdale, at an official reception held on June 28, 2007.
