InForMID PhD Candidate receives 2007 APHA GHS Laurence G. Branch Doctoral Student Research Award

The Laurence G. Branch Doctoral Student Research award honors outstanding students for exceptional research during their doctoral training. This year, the work of Ken Chui at InForMID was chosen to be the award recipient.

In his work "Estimating Number of Elderly Affected by Atlantic Storms and Post-storm Hospitalizations Related to Infectious Gastrointestinal Diseases Using Geographic Information System," Ken decribes a method to capture number of elderly exposed to storm events by applying buffers to the storm tracks. He will present his work at the APHA on Monday, November 5th, 2007 during session 3220.0 at this upcoming APHA Conference.
