Dr. Bertha Estrella is a pediatrician with training in Immunology and Epidemiology. Her research interests include relationships among micronutrients, immune response, infectious diseases and growth in children. As a member of the Corporación Ecuatoriana de Biotecnología, she initiated, organized, and conducted several community based studies.. Her research goal is to develop field strategies to improve nutritional status of the most vulnerable subpopulation of Ecuador, children and elderly, and to investigate in depth molecular mechanisms of micronutrients on immune response.
