Rajiv Sarkar is a Ph.D. candidate at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India. He has a M.Sc. in Epidemiology from the same institution. His research interests include epidemiology of waterborne infections, water and health, and use of GIS in studying transmission of waterborne infections. Rajiv spent six months at Tufts University undergoing training in infectious disease epidemiology, modeling and statistical techniques under the supervision of Dr. Naumova. His projects at Tufts include modeling the effect of diarrhea on the growth of children, and assessing seasonality patterns of different strains of rotavirus and cryptosporidial diarrhea. One of his projects entitled “Seasonality of Pediatric Enteric Infections in Tropical Climates: Time-Series Analysis of Data from a Birth Cohort on Diarrheal Disease” has been accepted for presentation at the 2008 Joint ISEE-ISEA Conference, to be held October 12-16, 2008, in Pasadena, CA. |
