TUSM to host AKC Dog Event

Brian Wolk M'07

In an effort to defray the spiraling costs of medical education, the Tufts University School of Medicine is sponsoring the 284th annual Championship Dog Show of the American Kennel Association. Due to the small space available at the Boston campus, the event organizers, along with members of the medical school have decided to hold the event at the main campus. However, the event will still be sponsored by the medical school, and proceeds from the event will go to high cost loans for students already deeply in debt.

The event will include over 60 poodles, 30 rottweilers, 12 Shih Tzus, 10 different breeds of Spaniels, half a dozen Setters, 5 Dobermans, 14 Giant Schnauzers, a pack of wolves, and a bunch of little whiny dogs. When asked for comment, one TUSM faculty member, who wished to remain anonymous, became irritated and started swearing. He was heard to mutter something related to the sphincter of Oddi, followed by the words, “Didu getha?”

Tufts Vet students were reportedly angry that the medical school was hosting the event, since they have devoted they’re lives to taking care of cute furry animals such as those in the show. “Who’s going to take care of the dogs if they get hurt walking around in a circle? We’re boycotting the show since the medical students are running it!” A medical student replied, “I don’t care, as long as it’s gonna lower tuition!” The event organizers are confident it will be a success, and will draw lots of students from the undergraduate campus.
