deval Makes History, But Will He Live Up to It?
Zaid Al-Hinai m'10
It was the day after the Massachusetts gubernatorial elections, and I was on my way to Manuel’s Barbershop in Brookline to get a long-overdue haircut. At the entrance, I noticed a campaign sign that read, “Deval Patrick: Together We Can.” The first thing I said to Manuel when I entered his shop was that I needed to find an ATM because I didn’t have cash. He smiled at me and, in his Spanish accent, said, “It’s ok. Have a seat. You can pay me later.” Then he stretched his arms wide open and declared “Together we can!” Mind you, this was the first time that Manny, as he likes to refer to himself, and I had ever met. Manny went on to cut my hair, all the while expressing his joy and pure ecstasy at the election results. It was truly refreshing to see how an election can give hope to people and restore their faith in the government. And it wasn’t only Manny, everybody at the barbershop seemed to be celebrating that day.

mustaches for medicine
peter acker M'10
In
the heart of every male lies an innate desire to grow facial hair. For whatever
underlying reasons there may be; looking good (subjective), impress other
good looking people, relate to our inner cave-men, or stay warm, at some
point all men have felt the urge to grow some incredible facial hair. And
of course, the pinnacle of all facial hair growths is the mustache. Us at
Mustaches for Medicine have decided to exploit this innate human desire
and profit from it…for the kids of course. This is what the Stache
Bash 2006 was all about.

TUSM Softball Challenge - M10 vs. M09: Which class is really better?
Trevor Szymanski M'09
Well, apparently M09. On a sunny Fall day in the North End, over 60 proud TUSM weekend-warriors suited up for the 1st annual Softball Championship. Some wore spikes, others their high school uniforms, and one wore jeans and really white shoes. In semi-final Game 1, Team Balls (M09) shucked The Bearded Clams (M10) 16-9. The offense of Team Balls was led by the timely hitting of team spark plug Winnie Szeto and the power of 1B Emily Waisbren. Taylor Monica took the win, pitching a nearly perfect 18 hitter. Ted Macnow went 4-4 while playing a dangerously left-handed second base.
