To return exams or not to return exams to students? This hot topic question is currently being debated by the Curriculum Committee, and it stands a good chance that the latter may win over. The currently policy, as we've all noticed, is that if a course's powers that be feel so inclined, the exam is returned ( i.e. Biochemistry), and if not, all that's received is the student test report sheet showing the grade, answer key, and the answers put down (think CT Bio). You (or a family member you really care about) are sick (sometimes extremely so) and are in need of adequate treatment, but there’s one problem: you do not know the main language that is spoken in the hospital. The unfortunate thing is that this is the reality of many patients in the Boston area, where a substantial portion of people do not speak English as their main language. Providing medical care to people who speak little English can present a serious challenge not only to patients but to the doctors who are trying to take care of them.
