The Connective Issue Mission Statement

The Connective Issue is a Web-based publication assembled by students at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM). The paper is organized with the primary goal of uniting all those affiliated with TUSM, including students in all four years, faculty, support staff, administration, alumni, families of the students, and prospective students.  To achieve this goal, The Connective Issue hopes to inform, entertain, and enlighten the various members of our audience.  In addition, The Connective Issue also has several other goals:

• Offer an opportunity to students to gain valuable "out of the classroom" experience by working in a cooperative organization requiring teamwork, good communication, ethical considerations, punctuality, and skills in negotiation and management.

• Provide a therapeutic avenue for students, faculty, and alumni to express the feelings prompted by experiences at TUSM and in the hospitals and clinics.

• Give people the opportunity to hone their writing skills and allow them to also express their artistic side in print, music, or photography.

• Teach students the basics in designing and assembling web pages and running a web site.

The Connective Issue was started during the fall semester of 2000 by Matt LeMaitre, MD/MALD '04, and Gary Blanchard, M'04, and has quickly grown in exposure and staff.
