Message from Dr. Harris Berman

Dear TUSM Staff Member,

I am deeply honored to be asked to serve as Dean ad interim of Tufts University School of Medicine and am excited to have this opportunity to lead the superb team of people who make TUSM an outstanding institution. I have enjoyed working closely with Mike Rosenblatt for the past 6 years, and am indeed sad to see him leave. Filling the very large shoes that he leaves behind (figuratively) is a daunting task. Yet we have an excellent team of people here who already work well together. And just as the practice of medicine has become a "team sport", so is effective leadership.

In the days and weeks ahead, I look forward to meeting with many of you, listening carefully to your thoughts, and seeing how we can best support your aims for TUSM. I know that Provost Bharucha is committed to a seamless transition, and I look forward to working with him to ensure the continued strength and vitality of the medical school. I have no doubt that we will all pull together to make this change in leadership a good thing for Tufts, so we are prepared to respond to the ever-changing environment in which we function.
