Staff FAQ

Q: Where is my department moving and when?
A: Moving schedule posted on special website.

Q: Where can I view building architectural plans and office assignments for my department?
A: Architectural plans are on the website. Speak with your department head or department coordinator regarding your office assignment.

Q: Can I go look at my new space during construction?
A: Not until construction is completed. Construction sites are dangerous and pose a liability for visitors. At times, it may be possible to pre-arrange tours with the contractor. Speak with your Steering Committee representative.

Q: How do I request furniture for my space?
A: Existing furniture is being reused wherever possible, with the exception of built-in workstations. New furniture must follow Tufts standards and will be similar throughout the building. Each department head has reviewed and approved furniture configurations.

Q: Will I keep the same telephone number and handset?
A: Yes. You are responsible for moving your handset to both your temporary and permanent locations. Any replacements to handsets must be absorbed in departmental budgets.

Q: How will our temporary and permanent address changes be publicized?
A: Mail Services and Security have been notified of all moves. In addition, this information will be posted on the website and on temporary signs. Departments are responsible for notifying frequent visitors.

Q: How do I pack for the move?
A: Each individual is responsible for packing his or her office or workstation. Your department coordinator will identify how common areas are to be addressed. Boxes are being provided by Personal Movers, the company that is handling the move.

Q: Can I contact them directly?
A: Forrest Manning and Jim Smolinskifrom Personal Movers are the points of contact for moving logistics. Email address: forrest.manning@personalmovers.com

Q: Will I lose a day of work? Should I plan to take the day off?
A: No. Some larger moves are occurring over the weekend so as not to disrupt normal operations

Q: Do I wait for OIT to hook up my computer or should I do it myself? How long will it take to get internet access?
A: You should hook up your own computer. OIT will be available for consultation. There should be minimal disruption in internet service.

Q: Who will choose paint colors, carpeting and furniture?
A: The furniture, carpeting, paint colors and other design details will be reviewed by the Steering Committee, so as to conform to Tufts standards.
