White Coat Ceremony
The White Coat Ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College, 219 Tremont Street, Boston, Massachusetts. A reception immediately following the Ceremony will be held at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers, 50 Park Plaza at Arlington Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
Tufts University School of Medicine held its first White Coat Ceremony in the fall of 1997. It is now considered a rite of passage for each entering class. This year is no exception as the medical students in the Class of 2013 will gather at the Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College to receive their white coats and stand together to recite the modern Hippocratic Oath.
The White Coat Ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony includes the Class of 2013 marching into the Theatre, an address by our guest Keynote Speaker, Dr. Nancy Rappaport, and each member of the class receiving his or her white coat. The ceremony typically lasts for 90 minutes. Immediately following the ceremony is a Dessert Reception at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Also, for guests interested in visiting the Tufts Barnes and Noble Bookstore, it will be open from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. and is located at the corner of Kneeland Street and Harrison Avenue.
