Nancy Rappaport, M.D.

Nancy Rappaport, M.D.

Nancy Rappaport, M.D., is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is Director of School Based Programs in Child Psychiatry at the Harvard Teaching Affiliate Cambridge Health Alliance with a focus on servicing youths, families and staff in public schools. She has worked with school administrators and teachers to recognize the opportunity for intervention and treatment that optimizes students' functioning.
Dr. Rappaport completed her medical degree at Tufts Medical School in 1988 and is a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. She has presented nationally and regionally on her experience with school based program development for violent and aggressive children. She has published extensively in chapters, requested reviews and peer review journals to help redefine the expectations of child psychiatrists. Her research focuses on evaluating advising within schools and also understanding the demographic profile of aggressive students in an urban setting to discern the psychiatric diagnoses, functional impairment, psychosocial stressors and appropriate interventions. She teaches Harvard undergraduates and residents about child development and supervises child fellows in schools.
