Research Studies:
BIENESTAR

(ENGLISH | ESPANOL )

BIENESTAR is a research study for Hispanics, taking place in the Nutrition/Infection Unit at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Purpose:

This study will examine the role of drug use on nutritional status and outcomes in HIV. Because of the importance of nutrition issues in drug use and HIV, this study may be of interest to both HIV+ and HIV- individuals.

Eligibility
Criteria:

We are recruiting men and women for four groups with the following profiles:
  • Hispanics who are HIV-positive and use drugs

  • Hispanics who are HIV-negative and use drugs
    (This group is full.)

  • Hispanics who are HIV-positive and do not use drugs

  • Hispanics who are healthy (no chronic diseases)

Interviews will be done in Spanish by Hispanic staff. Our team includes experts on nutritional problems in the Hispanic community.

A cash stipend will be given at each visit, totalling $350 for completion of the study. BIENESTAR is a 3-year study, with 8 visits lasting 2-3 hours each.
