FRAM 2
(Fat Redistribution and Metabolic Change in HIV Infection 2)
This is a follow-up of FRAM 1, a multi-site study of nearly 1,200 patients.
Purpose: |
The purpose of this study is to learn whether HIV-infected patients have abnormalities in their blood vessels that could eventually lead to heart attack or stroke (atherosclerosis), in how fat is distributed in their body, and in how their body handles fat and sugars.

Eligibility
Criteria: |
Must have enrolled in the Fat Redistribution and Metabolic Change in HIV Infection 1 study (FRAM1). |
Study
Requirements: |
Participation in this study involves two 4-hour visits to the clinic, an ultrasound of the carotid artery in the neck, measurements of body composition using MRI, and measurements of bone density using a DXA scan.

Benefits: |
A cash stipend of up to $200 will be given upon completion of all study procedures. |
