Dr. Dobs is a Professor of Medicine and Oncology and Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. With an additional degree in Clinical Epidemiology, she has been an active clinical investigator with NIH and industry. She is presently the Principal Investigator on a Center Grant in Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Cancer funded by NCCAM. Dr. Dobs has published extensively on the metabolic abnormalities of HIV infection and is presently funded by three NIH grants, including her role as the PI on a clinical trial evaluating the endocrine and metabolic abnormalities in injection drug users. Her other related research studies include: 1) Fat Redistribution and Metabolic Changes in HIV - the FRAM study, 2) the Multi-Center AIDS Cohort Study (MACS), 3) Body composition in the MACS participants, 4) efficacy of growth hormone in HIV-associated wasting, and 5) growth hormone for the treatment of lipodystrophy. Dr. Dobs is available to assist TNC members with any of the services offered by the Endocrine Core.
