Brown University
Investigators at Brown/Miriam specialize in broad-based clinical research among
Caucasian substance abusers. Their research focuses on HIV infection in
substance-abusing women, HIV prevention among active injection drug users, and
intervention studies among HIV-positive men and women leaving prison and
entering the community. They have developed expertise in the recruitment and
retention of drug users, the use of audio computer-assisted self-interviews
(ACASI) for assessing sensitive risk behaviors, and the use of directly observed
therapies (DOT) for HIV medications.
