Focus |
Dr. Minihan’s area of research is disability policy. She is particularly interested in the intersection of disability policy and public health policy, and in the policy challenges that arise because individual rights and collective rights are perceived so differently within the two fields. Her research activities focus on health promotion and disease prevention initiatives relative to people with developmental disabilities, particularly adults, from the perspectives of clinical health services and day-to-day health behaviors. She is currently working with a national organization representing families of children with special health care needs to develop and evaluate methods to help families adopt more healthy lifestyles. Since 2001, she has worked with colleagues at Tufts to implement a curriculum on disabilities for medical students in the required Family Medicine clerkship.
