Student Council Bylaws
Article VII: Student Council Bylaws Committee and Policy
Section 1: The Student Council Bylaws Committee has been established for the
purpose of revising the Bylaws at least once yearly to reflect any changes in
policy or practice made during the proceeding year. The Committee shall decide
what guidelines it will follow except where specified.
Section 2: The member ship of the committee shall consist of one Student council
representative from each of the four classes. The Chairperson of the committee
shall be a member with the greatest of tenure on the Committee, or in the absence
of such a member, the member with the greatest tenure on Student Council.
Section 3: The Committee shall be activated at the start of the spring semester.
The Committee shall then propose revision to the bylaws based on changes in
policy or practice during the preceding year and make such revisions know t
the Student Council. The committee will then solicit any criticisms of any proposed
revisions and determine their validity and need for change before making its
final recommendations to the Student Council.
Section 4: The Committee shall be required to present a report and recommendations
at the second to last Council meeting of the year (i.e., April). At that time,
the Council shall then vote on the proposed revisions based on the recommendations
of the Committee.
Section 5: Exceptions to the provision to this Article shall be considered
as circumstances warrant, and only with the approval of a majority of the Council.
