Belize
Rural Elective Program:
Part of the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dept.
of Family and Community Medicine, provides an opportunity to work with
Maya Indians in the rainforest of southern Belize. It is designed for

Canadian Network for International
Surgery:
Promotes the delivery of essential surgical care

Child and Family Health
International:

Medical Education Cooperation with Cuba (MEDICC):
A member of IHMEC, medical and public health

Foundation for Integrated Education and Development (FUNEDESIN):
Clinical rotation program provides clinical
experiences in the Amazon region of Ecuador. It is open to all levels
of students and health professionals in the fields of medicine and

Fogarty International Center:
The Fogarty International Center (FIC) has a new
program that provides early career opportunities for U.S. graduate
students in the health professions to participate in mentored clinical

Global Health Education Consortium:
Provides infor about courses, curricula,

Global Service Corps:

International Federation of Medical
Students' Association:
An independent non-political collection of 68

clinical and research exchanges and is involved in medical, public

Education and Self-Help:

service much in the fashion of the US Peace Corps. The primary focus is

MedicIndia:
Are you interested in putting your
recently-acquired medical knowledge into practical use this summer? Are
you interested in serving an underserved population? Are you interested
in learning about international development and yourself? MedicIndia is
a not-for-profit public service fellowship introducing first-year
medical students to social service, development, hands-on-experience,
and India. Each year, MedicIndia selects young professionals for a
six-week summer service fellowship at the New Civic Hospital in Surat
of Gujarat, India. The fellows will quickly acclimate to the new
environment and, following a brief orientation, will be enveloped in a
challenging and educational environment. Fellows will spend their time
rotating through various specialties (including general surgery,
pediatrics, rural healthcare, psychology, and various surgical
branches). In addition, MedicIndia is driven by a desire to provide
increased health services to a developing community. Also, the
fellowship looks to expose students to the strength, people, and
traditions of India.

A global association of institutions for the
education of health professionals committed to contribute to the
improvement of health in the communities they serve. The network also

Omni Med:
This is run by Dr. O'Niel at St. E's. It is an
organization that runs teaching/service projects cooperatively with

An organization working to ease poverty and

Network of volunteers from Latin America, the

Volunteer Optometric Services to
Humanity:
Nonsectarian group that provides multiple annual
