Video Services Questionnaire

The Educational Media Center has put together this questionnaire to help clarify the different kinds of digital media services that are available to the Tuft’s community. We require some basic information in order to deliver a finished project that meets everyone’s expectations. We videotape on three different digital formats, DVCPro tape, MiniDV tape, and Hard Drive Recorder. Each has it’s own advantages and disadvantages, so it is in everyone’s best interest to answer the questions below in order for us to determine the best way to videotape your project. Format Conversions:

The Educational Media Center can transfer your 3/4" U-Matic Tapes, VHS Tapes, 16mm Motion Picture Films, Super 8mm Motion Picture Films and 8mm Motion Picture Films to a digital format. We usually capture the footage directly to a hard drive giving us the option to reproduce it on DVD, VCD, VHS tape or digital tape.

Microsoft Producer:

What is Microsoft Producer? Microsoft Producer is a software program that works with Microsoft Powerpoint 2003. It uses templates giving us the ability to put native powerpoint slides and compressed video together on the same page. It uses Internet Explorer as a player, which means it can be put on the web and or put on a CD Rom for distribution. If you would like your project produced in Microsoft Producer, we need to know in advance of the videotaping. It usually requires 2 cameras to videotape, one on the presenter and the other on the screen to capture the slide change timings.
