Dr. Peter Wong

Dr. Wong is an Associate Professor of Engineering, Director of the Thermal Analysis of Materials Processing Laboratory, and the Director of Special Initiatives for the School of Engineering. Although he is not serving as a Director for this program, Dr. Wong was instrumental in initiating the planning process. He has a broad range of research interests and directs or co-directs a number of core facilities in the School of Engineering. Among his research interests are microelectromechanical devices, which have been used as sensors in commercial products for years (air bag sensors, ink jet heads). This technology holds promise for new in vivo sensors, drug delivery mechanisms, tissue scaffolds; in vitro combinatorial chemistry scanners; and biomedical instrumentation with DNA scanners and pathogen detectors. Dr. Wong will collaborate with Dr. Fantini in supervising students interested in sensor development, and he will also advise and assist students who wish to use the core facilities of the School of Engineering.
