Fig. 14 CCN5 expression is correlated with high estrogen levels in women. Using matched pairs of human fibroid and normal myometrium, we measured CCN5 protein levels using Western blot analysis as a function of menstrual cycle phase. The highest levels of CCN5 are found in proliferative phase, when estrogen levels are highest, whereas the lowest levels of CCN5 are found in the menstrual phase, when estrogen levels are lowest.
