GUSTAFSON LABORATORY

My research has focused on the cellular and endocrine mechanisms that control pubertal development and seasonal reproductive rhythmicity in males. We have studied the mechanism of action of androgens in these processes; and, in particular, we have been interested in how specific binding proteins influence, control, and/or inhibit these important actions. In addition, we have investigated and identified factors that are involved in the regulation of the binding proteins. Selected references describing these studies are listed below. More recently, we have also begun to investigate and develop multimedia and digital imaging technologies for use in health sciences education.
