Our Mental Health Services Research Group (MHSRG) has been involved in consultative research design and implementation projects across a broad array of mental health outcomes assessment. The research has emphasized practical approaches to improving the detection of psychiatric disorders in non-psychiatric settings including primary care, particularly through the development of innovative patient-based screening methodologies, and improved compliance with treatments for major affective disorders. Through grants from NIMH and CDC we are studying the impact of depression on work functioning including screening and treating depressed employees through telephone base treatment interventions. In addition, we are studying health disparities in primary care.
