Studies in our laboratory are designed to address,
in molecular terms, basic issues related to DNA replication. Topics
under investigation include site-specific binding of “initiator” proteins
to origins of replication, the subsequent assembly of the
initiation complex, the mechanism by which DNA helicases
unwind the origin and how these events are regulated by the
cell cycle. A related topic involves the G1/S check-point
and the role of Pin-1 in this process. We are investigating
these issues using a combination of biochemical, molecular
biology and structural techniques.
