jonathan.garlick@tufts.edu Recent advances in the engineering of three-dimensional
tissues have opened new opportunities to study human disease
processes in stratified squamous epithelium. Our laboratory
uses these tissue models to understand the role of cell-cell
and cell-matrix interactions during early cancer development.
We are particularly interested in understanding the molecular
changes that accompany the onset of metastasis. The engineered
models of human skin we are using also provide powerful new
tools to study other disease processes in these tissues as
they occur in humans.
