My laboratory emphasizes the molecular mechanisms of transcriptional repression with emphasis on tumor suppressor genes and cell cycle regulation. Our research aims to understand the normal functions of tumor suppressor genes in tissue barriers to proliferation and how defects may lead to tumorigenesis. Our long-term objectives are to provide the basis for design of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for breast, liver and other cancers.
