FIRST YEAR DIDACTIC COURSES (Required)

Biochm 223 Graduate Biochemistry:Brian Schaffhausen - fall semester
Gene 201 Introduction to Genetics:Carol Kumamoto - fall semester
Gene 205 Mammalian Genetics: Alexander Poltorak - spring semester

PLUS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
One elective approved by the research mentor/thesis committee and the student advisor.Many students take Biochem 230A/B Biochemestry of Gene Expression or Gene 203 Cancer Genetics as an elective.
Ethics

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOP COURSES

Participation in the Journal Club, Seminar, Student Workshop and Program Retreat, as described for Ph.D. students, is required.

ROTATIONS

M.D./Ph.D. students generally complete their rotations in the summers between years 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 of Medical School. An additional rotation, coordinated with the Genetics Program Advisor may be conducted upon entry into the Genetics Program in the fall of year 3.
