Students seeking admission to the Immunology Graduate Program apply to the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. You may also contact our program assistant, Ms. Diana Pierce or our Admissions Director, Dr. Peter Brodeur if you have specific questions. Prospective applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of college-level biology, at least one year of college-level mathematics, and inorganic and organic chemistry. Although not required, successful completion of courses in biochemistry, cell biology and genetics are assets for graduate biomedical study. Most of our current students majored in a biological science during their undergraduate years. The Graduate Record Examination is required, but a subject test (Biology or Biochemistry) is optional. Foreign applicants whose first language is not English must take the TOEFL. Applications from students wishing to transfer to the Immunology Program are also considered, provided the applicant is in good standing at his/her current institution. Our objective is to select students who are not only intellectually capable, but who also possess investigative skills coupled to an inquisitive mind. Applicants are evaluated based on undergraduate transcripts, GRE scores, letters of reference, and research experience. Typical highly competitive applicants have GPAs of at least 3.4 (based on a 4.0 system), GRE scores at the 70th percentile or greater, and have engaged in significant laboratory research during or following their undergraduate education. Following review of submitted applications, competitive candidates are invited to visit Tufts and meet with students and faculty The application process can be completed on-line, but paper applications will also be accepted. Candidates are admitted on a rolling schedule, beginning as early as February. Subject to availability of funds, all students, including those from abroad, receive full tuition remission, a stipend ($27,250, for September 2007), and health insurance. |
