My research focuses on the interaction between nutritional status, micronutrient interventions, and infectious diseases. My work is primarily focused on interventions in resource-poor countries to reduce morbidity and mortality of young children including neonates from pneumonia, malaria, diarrhea, and neonatal sepsis. I am also interested in reducing infection-related morbidity, especially from pneumonia, in the elderly in the United States.
