The innate immune system detects bacterial nucleic acids via CpG motifs to promote both innate inflammatory responses and antigen-specific adaptive responses. I am studying CpG hypo-responsiveness in a genetically diverse wild-derived MOLF/Ei mice, a strain in macrophages but not plasmacytic dendritic cells are partially responsive to CpG motifs. I am studying the signaling pathways that are involved in this phenotype. I am also working to identify the genes that control this response.
