Our lab studies a population of CD8 regulatory cells in the gut of mice that are induced by helminth infection.  These cells are capable of inhibiting the proliferation of effector cells and are of interest for the role they play in abrogating inflammation.  My project involves determining what role cytokines have in the induction of this CD8 regulatory cell. I am looking at various cyotokines upregulated during the course of helminth infection and investigating the pathways through which they may activate these regulatory cells.
