Bacteroides fragilis is an anaerobe capable of causing intraperitoneal
and intra-abdominal infections. In our lab we strive to identify
virulence factors which enable B. fragilis to emerge as the
predominant anaerobic bacterial pathogen from the normal flora
of human large intestine.
