Science Advocacy

The Boston Regional Brain Bee is part of the Brain Awareness Week (BAW) program, an educational mission to make neuroscience topics and research more noticeable to the public.  BAW was launched in 1996 through the efforts of the National Society for Neuroscience and the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives.  Today, BAW is celebrated across the country in mid-March.  It involves projects with younger students, public lectures, tours through various neuroscience laboratories and other fascinating events to increase interest and knowledge about the brain.

The first brain bee competition started in 1999 and has been a regular event during Brain Awareness Week.  The competition has been extremely successful because of motivated students and teachers.  The Boston Area Neuroscience Group, a local chapter of SfN, is proud continue efforts in neuroscience advocacy and to hold its second annual brain bee.  It should bring excitement in neuroscience to a community already achieving high standards in science and science education.  We hope everyone will be just as excited for the event.

Please help support science in our communities by competing in the bee, encouraging and attending our local high school students and donating your time or money to help hold the event.  Thank you.  See you in February.
