The goal of the Tufts Center for Neuroscience Research (CNR) is to support neuroscience research efforts and to promote collaborative interactions among neuroscientists at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM) and its affiliated hospitals Tufts Medical Center (Tufts MC) and St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. The CNR is located within the TUSM Department of Neuroscience; it provides core research services to Tufts neuroscientists and other investigators.

One of the primary goals of the CNR is to integrate core services and faculty research programs that exist in the different Tufts-affiliated institutions. To this end, the CNR fosters neuroscience collaborations and provides core research services to neuroscientists funded by the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and other NIH institutes. CNR-supported core facilities offer services for biological imaging, biophysics & electrophysiology, computational genomics, and animal behavior.

The establishment of the CNR and the operation of the core facilities are greatly aided by support from Tufts University, TUSM, Tufts MC and a center core grant from the NINDS.

CNR Mission
  • To support the research of neuroscience investigators through shared core facilities and research resources provided for NINDS-funded labs at Tufts University School of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals.
  • To foster collaborative interactions among NINDS and other neuroscience investigators at all of the Tufts-affiliated institutions.
  • To provide pilot funding for new collaborative neuroscience research projects.

Citing the CNR in Publications
As an indication of center productivity and its usefulness in neuroscience research at Tufts, it is important that investigators acknowledge use of CNR core facilities and assistance in their research publications. Please remember to cite the "Tufts Center for Neuroscience Research, P30 NS047243 (Jackson)"
