  The Sterling Visiting Professorship

The Sterling Drug Company has established a Visiting Professorship in Pharmacology at Tufts University in honor of Dr. Louis Lasagna, Professor of Pharmacology and Dean of the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. Often referred to as "the father of Clinical Pharmacology", Dr. Lasagna started the first academic division of Clinical Pharmacology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1954. He has trained leaders in this field from the United States and many foreign countries and his scientific publications number in the hundreds.

The Sterling Company's Visiting Professor Program is designed to promote an interchange of knowledge about pharmacology among institutions of higher learning because pharmacology is the keystone in the development of new, safe and effective medicines. The Department of Pharmacology will invite a Visiting Professor annually to present major lectures and conduct workshops with staff, students and guests.
