The Clinical Research Graduate Program is built on the foundation
of a well-established fellowship program in the Clinical
Care Division of the Tufts-New England Medical Center. The
Program is intended for individuals already trained in the
medical sciences, primarily fully-trained physicians, but
also others with analogous backgrounds (e.g., DDS, DVM) who
want further training for research careers. Both M.S. and
Ph.D. programs are offered.
Clinical research, defined by the NIH, includes a range of studies involving
patients, populations, or diagnostic clinical materials or data. This broad definition
is responsive to dynamic changes that are taking place within the biomedical
and health sciences and in the organization and financing of health care. It
also represents the span of interests among faculty and students of the Clinical
Research Graduate Program.
The curriculum provides students the opportunity to select
an area for focused concentration:
- Clinical Investigation
- Health Services and Outcomes Research
- Epidemiology/Biostatistics
- Medical Informatics
- Evidence-based Medicine
- Bench to Bedside Translational Research
Graduates of this program will become independent investigators
and leaders in their fields of research.
