Article Contest
In the new November issue of the
Sackler InSight, we will begin running a regular competition between
members of the Sackler community. The competition will run in two
parallel sections: 1) The best political, opinionated, scientific,
Sackler-related, or otherwise non-fictional piece of writing and 2) the
best artistic photograph, poem, short story (<5-600words), cartoon or
otherwise fictional piece. These competitions will be judged by your
peers via the button above and we encourage you to spread the word to
encourage a strong voter turnout! After polls are taken, the two winners
will be given a gift card to the restaurant of their choice! To submit a
piece, email
paul.everill@tufts.edu
in email or word format (for text) or any picture file accessible
by Adobe Photoshop (for images). Deadline for submission is the 22nd
November. There will be a reminder email before the due date. Polls will
be tallied online and winners announced a week after the newspaper is
published. Winners will be announced by email to all of Sackler (if
permission is granted by the winner). If we get too many pieces to
publish, some will be chosen (first come, first printed) to be put into
the next issue instead. Please make sure you include which prize you are
aiming for and be prepared to have a star of some other marker placed on
your piece to indicate to the reader that it is up for election. Thanks
for your support! We eagerly await your emails!!
Classifieds Page
In an effort to provide a new
service to the Sackler community we here at the newsletter have decided
to start a classifieds page to help students and faculty buy and sell
their belongings, announce events that they are involved in, post rental
properties for winter skiing, send a shout out to celebrate a
birthday/anniversary or otherwise congratulatory event, see some
services that perhaps you didn't know existed, and otherwise get what
you need to say said! To aid in production costs, we are asking that
students/faculty donate $2 for a black and white text post (30-40words),
$5 for a black and white post which may include a picture (total area no
more than an eighth of a page) and $15 for a color post which may
include a picture (total area no more than a quarter of a page). Those
advertisements publicizing to aid their own profits (cores, etc) will be asked to pay
$15 or $25 to receive a black or color, quarter page post, respectfully. These prices are a flat rate
and are on a per issue basis. Larger ad sizes are available; email for a
quote. All requests and questions should be sent
to
paul.everill@tufts.edu.
