TEACRS Leadership

Claire Moore, Ph.D., Professor of Molecular Biology & Microbiology at Tufts University School of Medicine, directs the TEACRS program. Dr. Moore received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina and completed postdoctoral training with Dr. Philip Sharp at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she contributed to experiments that led to Dr. Sharp's Nobel Prize. She joined the faculty at Tufts in 1986.
Her research focuses on fundamental mechanisms by which gene expression is controlled, work that led to her selection as a recipient of the Zucker Family Prize for Research in 1998. In addition to her research, Dr. Moore has led innovations in education at Tufts. She developed the first summer minority training program for young researchers, a program that has helped more than 200 young scientists of diverse backgrounds pursue careers in science and medicine. In addition to her work with the TEACRS program, she has developed two training programs that link biomedical scientists and engineers in novel ways that promote interdisciplinary interaction.
