Progress Through TEACRS

The TEACRS program is a three year program. A typical course of training is diagrammed below and includes research, career development and teaching activities. The schedule is flexible according to the goals of each trainee. For example, it is possible for a trainee to complete the teaching assignment in the second year. Specific events for the 2008-2009 academic year can be found here.

Year One

Research committee forms and meets Tufts Summer Institute for Teaching Seminars & workshops in research area
Human subjects/animal use training if applicable Mentor an undergraduate in lab research National IRACDA Conference
Year Two

Research continues Mentored teaching at partner school - one semester TEACRS Trainee Workshops
Research committee meets Mentor an undergraduate in lab research Seminars & workshops in research area
Present research seminar in home department Preparation and approval of detailed teaching assignment for year 3 National IRACDA Conference
Attend relevant national research meeting Complete scientific ethics training
Year Three

Research continues Develop and deliver a course at partner school TEACRS Trainee Workshops
Research committee meets Teaching evaluations Seminars & workshops in research area
