The following is a list of upcoming international higher education conferences either with a focus on civic engagement or a broad theme that could include discussions of civic engagement. This list is by no means comprehensive, and we invite you to let us know about any other upcoming events that we could include on the list. - South African-Nordic Centre (SANDFORD) 2nd International Conference: "Inclusion and Exclusion in Higher Education." Rhodes University, South Africa. December 7-9, 2009.
- This conference will explore how higher education reflects, extends or transcends inequalities of gender, race, class, health and culture. What are the legacies of inclusion and exclusion in the SADC and Nordic regions, what policies and measures did governments, educational institutions or pressure groups adopt to transcend them and with what effects? How are policies changing today as societies are affected by processes of democratization, cultural integration, climate change or economic crisis? Drawing on Southern African and Nordic experiences, the conference will explore diverse challenges and experiences in both regions in order to develop a comparative perspective.

January 2010
- "It Takes a Village: A Regional Faculty Training on Community-Based Learning." American University in Cairo, January 3-4, 2010
The Ma'an Alliance is hosting its second regional training for faculty. This training will focus on the teaching pedagogy of community-based learning. Participants will have a chance to learn about different community-based organizations, hear faculty experiences across the disciplines, brainstorm new course ideas to address community needs, and learn how to generate an interest amongst students for community-based learning courses.

- The 21st Annual National Service-Learning Conference. San Jose, California. March 24-27, 2010.
- This conference is the largest gathering of youth and practitioners involved in service-learning, drawing approximately 2,500 attendees from across the United States and many other countries each year. Through three days of general sessions, thought leader series, service-learning projects, and networking, the conference engages participants in local, national, and global issues that service-learning addresses. Come explore more than 100 exhibits, and nearly 150 hands-on workshops and service-learning projects.

- Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) 11th conference: "Creating the Future We Want to Be: Transformation through Partnerships." May 12-15, 2010 in Portland, Oregon
- Community-Campus Partnerships for Health promotes health (broadly defined) through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions. The conference agenda is designed to facilitate opportunities for participants to engage in substantive discussions, gain new knowledge and practical skills, think critically about their work and take action individually and collectively.
