Program Information
Approval for the Campus Agreement was given by a vote of the University's Information Technology Council. The cost of Campus Agreement is based on a count of Full Time Equivalents (FTEs) instead of machines. Funding is provided at the school or division level.
Software Distribution on the Tufts Campuses
UIT and other divisions across the University have collaborated on the agreement roll-out. Software for installation on computers which are owned or leased by Tufts University is now available from your school or division's support organization. Since each support organization may have specific policies and procedures regarding the distribution and installation of the covered software products, faculty and staff should contact their FSPs for assistance and information.
Software provided to support organizations will be updated quarterly.
Home Use
All of the products covered under the Campus Agreement may be used on one home machine or laptop, but may only be used for work-related activities. Software may be obtained for home installation in one of two ways.
For those having high-speed Internet access at home (e.g., a cable modem or DSL), all but one of the covered Microsoft products can be downloaded by clicking here . The only product which cannot be downloaded from this site is Windows operating system upgrades, which require media for installation.
For those who lack high-speed Internet access and cannot use the download facility, a very limited amount of special "home use" media is available for the products listed below. This includes the Windows XP upgrade:
- Visual Studio.Net Professional 2003
- Windows XP Professional
- Office XP Pro for Windows
- Office 2003 Pro for Windows (Available November, 2003)
- Office for Macintosh 2001
- Office for Macintosh Standard 10.0
- FrontPage 2003 (Available November, 2003)
- Publisher 2003 (Available November, 2003)
Faculty and staff may obtain this media by contacting site-lic@tufts.edu. The email making the request should specify the product required, identify who is requesting the media and his/her campus address. We will continue to update this web page as changes occur to the list of available media. Please check this page before submitting any such requests.
Conditions of Use
Software which is licensed under the Microsoft Campus Agreement ("Software") may be loaded on any machine which is owned or leased by Tufts University. Tufts University faculty and staff may also load the Software on one home machine or laptop for school-related use. Upon change in status or separation from Tufts University, faculty and staff must remove the Software from the home machine or laptop.
Software covered under the Microsoft Campus Agreement may only be used during the term of the agreement. If Tufts University terminates the agreement, the University will notify members of the Tufts community and any Software which was provided under the agreement must be deleted and removed from all computers.
