Climate's
Long-term Impacts on Metro Boston (CLIMB) Final Workshop
June 8, 2004, 001 Braker Hall, Tufts University, Medford MA
9AM - Noon
A team from Tufts University, University of Maryland, and Boston University with the assistance of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council has been investigating potential impacts of climate change on Metro Boston with a focus on adaptation actions that the 101 cities and towns in the region may take. The CLIMB project addresses Energy Demand, Transportation, Water Supply, Waste Water Management, Coastal and River Flooding, Public Health, and Tall Buildings. It has been funded by the US EPA.
Many of you have contributed to the CLIMB project through participation in advisory panels. At this meeting the team will be presenting the draft final results for your review and working with you to further understand the interactions of the impacts and various adaptation options. For example, are there a set of complementary actions in each sector that will allow the region to set a path towards effective adaptation to climate change?
Please also invite your colleagues and others who might be interested. This is intended to be a working meeting. Therefore, no media are being invited; we plan to have a press conference in early July to present and discuss results with them. Here we want to work with you to consider our results and their implications.
We would appreciate your responding to Ms Noelle Brooker at noelle.brooker@tufts.edu by June 1 if you are attending. We look forward to your participation.
