CLAIRE M. DAVIS
Claire M. Davis is Principal of Strategic Marketing Alliance, Inc., of Roseland, New Jersey, an executive search firm with a focus in marketing and market research. Since founding the firm in 1995, Claire has worked with firms in the financial services and healthcare sectors, conducting numerous nationwide successful executive searches. From 1992 to 1995, she served as Executive Vice President of Alec Peters Associates in New York, where she directed the marketing practice for healthcare and financial services and led the recruitment and training of new account executives. She also worked for ten years as Director of the Marketing Practice for Winston Resources, the largest multiple practice staffing organization in New York. Recruited specifically for her expertise in executive search, Claire applied these skills in recruiting and training account executives agency wide across practice disciplines and demonstrated that executive search recruitment methodology can operate successfully in an agency culture.
After earning a B.A. in Psychology from Tufts University in 1979, Claire earned an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from New York University in 1981. In 1990 she gained the designation of Certified Personnel Consultant.
Claire has actively participated in many philanthropic causes, primarily aimed at improving the lives of women and children. She is an Emerita Trustee of the Kent Place School, where as Chair of the Alumnae Annual Fund she helped to increase alumnae participation by 30% within one year. She is President of the Board of the Marion P. Thomas Charter School Foundation and board member of Project Grad Newark. She formerly served as Chair of the Board of the Althea Gibson Foundation and board member of The Links Foundation.
Claire has retained close ties to Tufts, serving in a number of volunteer capacities. An elected member of the Tufts Alumni Council since 1990, she has served as Regional Vice President and Chair of the Regional Programs Committee. She played a key role in the creation of the new Tufts Alumni branding campaign and successfully advocated for including a citizenship and community service component in future alumni events. A cofounder of the Tufts Black Alumni Association, she has coordinated leadership events in the New York metropolitan area and conducted outreach to current African-American students. Claire was an interviewer for the Tufts Alumni Admissions Program (TAAP) from 1995-2000.
Claire was elected to the Tufts University Board of Trustees in 2008.
